Oil derivates

If we think about oil derivate products, we only have to look around. After all, our modern life is unimaginable without the oil's existence, nor its derivates'.

Each oil deposit has its singularities that may vary depending on the relation between the carbon and hydrogen atoms, and each one has variable amounts of sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen. These mixtures are different in each deposit, and this means that each crude oil varies, it will be different depending on the minerals in the oil deposit.

According to the hydrocarbon compounds, that are present in the three states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas, one can get different derivates with different uses after the oil's refining process.
Oil derivates

Among the most important oil derivate products, we can find:

  • Fuels: This kind of derivate is the most demanded worldwide. The reason why this happens is that fuels are needed to maintain fundamental stuff around the world, things such as transport and the industries' machinery. Although it is also used in electric energy generation and heating systems. Within this category, we may find gasolinekerosene, natural gas, methane and propane, diesellubricant oils, thinner, and asphalts.

  • Synthetic fibers and plastics: This kind of material is commonly used in different products, acrylic, nylon, polyester, lycra. And we cannot go on without mentioning PVC, or Polyvinyl Chloride, which is the most common raw material. It is present in different products such as textiles, furniture, pipes, electric cable covers, paints, solvents, cars, varnishes, and bottle production.

  • Paraffines and petrolatum, or petroleum gelatin: These kinds of hydrocarbon derivates are white or transparent substances. They are part of a huge amount of medications, vaselines, candles, soaps, and even foods and cosmetics such as moisturizing lotions and lipsticks. When it used in foods, drugs, lotions, and cosmetics, its refining process must be especially rigorous not to become something that might harm the consumer's health.

  • Fertilizing: Ammoniac and nitrogen are indispensable to produce farming fertilizing. Today is possible for us to produce these ingredients thanks to oil's existence. Farming needs to use hydrocarbons on each of its stages because these components constitute fertilizing's fundamental ingredients. Although, they are also used to create herbicide, fungicide, and tractors, gathering machines, and harvests transports' fuels.
